Tasmania
Australia

There are two ways of getting to Tasmania, by ferry (approx 9 hours) or flying (approx 1 hour ex Melbourne).

I opted to take the "Spirit of Tasmania" ferry. It departed Port Melbourne at 9.00PM and arrived at Devonport at about 6.00AM in the morning. I booked a berth in a cabin but wondered why, as I was up most of the night talking to a number of Triumph Motor-cycle enthusiasts who were having their rally in Launceston.

After a couple of hours travel I arrived at my accomodation on the shores of Great Lake where I was to stay for a few days.

I took a trip to Waddamana Power Station. Completed in 1916 it generated power up until 1994. A part is still mothballed for possible later use, but modern generators are more efficient. Waddamana is now an interesting museum.
