The Nullabor Plain

S.A./W.A.

Nullabor Plain...The "treeless plain" is not totally so but at furst glimpse may have appeared so to the early pioneers who travelled it.

The road is offically marked on maps as the The Eyre Highway, and runs between Port Augusta and Norseman, a distance of 1671km. Wether travelling in a car or 4WD on this Great Road Journey it's important to TAKE TIME.
Eastern Start
Above: The start is nigh.
Below: Not all of the Nullarbor Plain is treeless
Not totally treeless
The road is kept in good order and is sealed for the whole distance
Travelling west there is a Quarantine station at SA/WA border and fruits and vegetables will be confiscated...also honey heading west. That annoyed me as I had bought a really nice jar of the stuff on Kangaroo Island. Returning east there is a quarantine station at Ceduna
Above: Madura. Looking east. The Roadhouse and associated buildings are to the left in picture
