| Limited by time for my next travel adventure, I made the decision not to tow the caravan across to Western Australia.
My choices were to take my tent or swag and roll out the awning on the car, or to look at something different. I have always liked the idea of a roof tent, they look easy to set up and the bedding is already in place. I looked at 2 distinct styles, one European, and the others from Southern Africa. The European lost out mainly because of the timing, purchase, and fitting availability. It came down to which of the 2 Southern African products - Ezi-Awn or Howling Moon. I was fortunate enough to be in Sydney and visited Open Sky in Camperdown. They are the distributors for both makes. Lesley was extremely helpful, as I tried the various models. I opted for the Howling Moon as it has a thicker mattress base, and the cover can remain attached. |

| The tent is easy to set up, about 3-4 minutes once the cover is rolled back. Once unzipped I roll it loosely so it sits underneath the roof bar. It is then only a matter of fitting the spring steel stays to tension the flysheet and window awnings |

| As a comparison I slept in my swag a couple of nights under the awning. It was definitely colder (September) down on the ground. |
