My first drive of a Volkswagen was not long after I obtained my license. It was a 1967 VW1300. After working with Hertz Rent a Car I realised how reliable these cars were and soon there were 3 VeeDubs in our family. 2 1500s and one older 1200.

On my way to the United Kingdom I stopped off in South Africa where I was joined by my sister.

We bought a Volkswagen 411L Estate. Automatic. Above and below--Also VW van belonging to flatmate.

With another friend we travelled around South Africa, Swaziland, Lesotho, Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) and Botswana. When arrived back in Johannesburg it was starting to show its age with probably a couple of valves burnt out.
